UCL Urban Laboratory
Cities Imaginaries Lecture 2025 – Zadie Smith
To celebrate 20 years of urban research, UCL Urban Laboratory hosted award-winning writer Zadie Smith for the 2025 Cities Imaginaries Lecture. The event marked the publication of Dead and Alive (Penguin Books), Smith's latest essay collection, which examines the intersections of art, culture and place.
As Communications Manager for the UCL Bartlett faculty, I wrote a feature article covering Zadie Smith's reading and Q&A session with Prof Matthew Beaumont. The story was published on the Bartlett website and distributed through faculty channels, reaching alumni, academics and external audiences interested in urban research and cultural programming.
